Urban Garden x Katos Collective
Rovaniemi City Garden Association is organising a garden party open to all on the Night of the Arts from 12-16. Katos Collective’s works will be on display in the City Garden, intertwining growth, care, life and circulation. During the day, you can participate in a community art project, learn about the urban garden’s plots, activities and growing methods, and enjoy a tasting of the harvest.
Come and relax in an urban oasis in the middle of Rovaniemi! (There is a beehive on site – for those allergic to bees)
12-14 pm Piia Lieste will guide you in making a community artwork using leaf green to pattern fabric (you can also bring your own cotton textile, e.g. a T-shirt or bag).
The Katos Collective is an artists’ group founded in 2025, bringing together artists from the north, on the terms of the north, in the free art scene. The Night of the Arts is the collective’s first public performance together. In the urban garden, the Collective’s artists’ works, created using a variety of methods, blend unexpectedly into the flora, encouraging exploration of the details of the environment.
Katos Kollective’s artists include visual artist Tanja Koistinen, visual artist Savu E Korteniemi, visual artist Piia Lieste, media artist Simi Ruotsalainen, visual artist Jenni Turunen and textile artist Sannu Vaarala.
