TÄ! -kulttuuriklubi: Pelkkä Poutanen & Ite Eerola

During Rovaniemi Week’s Night of the Arts, TÄ! Cultural Club brings two distinctive artists to the stage at Monde, whose music moves along the paths of sensitivity, experimentation, and honest storytelling. On Saturday, September 6, the stage will feature the hypnotic performer Pelkkä Poutanen and the gentle Rovaniemi-based singer-songwriter Ite Eerola.

The evening opens with Ite Eerola — an artist known as a messenger of laid-back lounging, whose songs dwell on the borderlands of indie folk and experimental pop. In Eerola’s music, subtle nuances, disarmingly honest storytelling, and an intense yet tender presence create a space where listeners pause to reflect on their own thoughts. His guitar playing and recognizable singing voice guide the audience into atmospheres that are both delicate and warm.

Pelkkä Poutanen is an artist unafraid to dive deep into the core of sound and story. She is known for her masterful throat-singing techniques — rarely heard performed by women — and for her powerful stage presence. Poutanen’s music blends Finno-Ugric and Scandinavian folk songs, ancient traditions, live electronics, and roots influences. The result is soundscapes that breathe both the pulse of distant traditions and the rhythms of today. Her lyrics draw on the transience of life, telling stories inspired by Christian tradition as well as contemporary political currents.
