Short film: Ballet mecanique - Rovaniemi Night of the Arts

Early pearl of experimental cinema from 1924. Duration 20 min. A short film directed by Fernand Léger and Dudley Murphy focuses on visual form of the object instead of plot. How do things look without their rational and symbolic meaning?

Movie is presented as part of Alvar Aalto’s anniversary. It has been screened in Finland’s first film club, Filmistudio Projektio, in it’s opening night in 1934. One of the founding members of the club was Alvar Aalto.

Cultural Office of the City of Rovaniemi

The activities of the Cultural Office include providing cultural activities for children, the elderly and the Rovaniemi city centre and villages. The Cultural Office is also responsible for organising the city's official celebrations, such as National Veterans' Day, the Family Midsummer Festival, Rovaniemi Week, Independence Day and New Year's Eve.
