Everyone in the city is welcome to participate in the exhibition, either as an artist or as a visitor. Both professional and amateur artists can exhibit their own works.

Northern Means – the main exhibition
In the permanent exhibition, you can see and hear stories about the people and personalities who have influenced Lapland, learn about the animals and nature, and get an overview of Lapland’s history from ancient times to almost the present day.

Beauty on the map
What did the North look like from the South hundreds of years ago? From whose perspective is history made? Is the land really only discovered when the white man finds it? An exhibition at the Arktikum Science Centre will lead visitors to the big questions.

The exhibition is based on the latest archaeological research in northern Finland and mainly covers the period from the 800th to the 1500s.
